How about Fracking! + development of electric cars is far worse. Disposing the parts is also bad on the environment. And the charge...are you a rich kid?

Fracking is only profitable at $3 per gallon.
Lithium Ion batteries are totally recyclable.
Used electric cars start at $5,000
Anything else?

Ok, it just highlights the difficulties of it. But ok

difficulties that decrease as time goes on. even when EV batteries lose too much capacity to power a vehicle, they can are used by utilities to instandly absorb grid surges and quick release extra power back when it's lacking. It's called grid balancing. http://www.caiso.com/TodaysOutlook/Pages/supply.html

WTF, it hints that this needs to be done better as in its current form is horrible in many ways, environmental, social, economical. It details change needed.

it IS being done better than throwing it in the trash. certified recyclers don't "dispose". if you did some reseach you'd know that.

you're welcome :) you should read the book "rich dad, poor dad"

I am doing that, way to sell me an EV...still seems to create further problems down the line. Repurpose is good but it seems to indicate an influx the more EVs needed for production.

I understand that it is preferred but the advancement isnt there yet. I will continue monitoring the advancement when it is cost efficient and safe from the ground up.

If you have $5k to waste on a gas car that costs $$$ to maintain and $$$ to fuel but refuse to buy a $5k ev that costs 0 to maintain and often 0 to fuel, YOU are the rich kid.

Thanks rich kid

Ok, there are millions of LIION batteries in our phones, laptops, etc. Will you not buy those until their recycling is improved? Of course you won't. Is the oil war that's needed to keep oil flowing and the lifetime of pollutants released by burning gasoline better than buried batteries that don't make it to the recycler? It yes, then keep paying $3 a gallon and doing all that maintenance.

Have it shipped or use plugshare to find stations along the way. green=slow, orange=fast. https://www.autolist.com/electric-under+5000

Would you look at that, 5k Nissan Leafs. I guess your right rich kid. If you want a shitty electric car you can get one.

What's shitty about it?

It will still be costly. Its more affordable to own a 97 Toyota Corolla and maintain that than a Nissan Leaf. The maintenance, recycling and reusing of any electric vehicle will be vastly more expensive the the initial 5k cost for a used one. I maintain my vehicle and acknowledge the cost difference. If you ever lived paycheck to paycheck and worried there is no bail out, you can be intellectually honest and say this is not a reliable vehicle for low middle class and below.

you're wrong. your gas car will cost more to maintain than electric car. there's no maintenance. how's no maintenance and 50 cents for 30 miles not cheaper than $3 gas with thousands of moving parts to repair? hows a broke person going to be better off spending $5k on a gas car? you prove my point. keep going.

5k cars like these need a battery replacement. Most times people are selling these peaces of shit because the battery replacement cost more than the car. Stop misinforming people. Sure a new one will be less if you maintain it yourself but by 100k miles, your ev car is shit.

you don't "have" to replace batteries even if the car's 85 mile original range has dropped to 50 miles. average daily commute is less than that. just plug in before bed and it's done in the morning. 50 cents for 30 miles. the math proves you wrong.
0 ups, 3y
Oh lucky you. Way to exclude those that do. Daily commute for me is 60 miles. Average for many in the valley. Dont forget traffic. This used piece of shit will get me stranded. Gas up a week and im good all week in by Corolla. Dont want the excessive electric bill too.

charge at your desintation. wall outlet = 5 miles per hour. excessive electric bill? how's 50 cents for 30 miles more expensive than $3 a gallon? you make no sense. plugshare.com

Looking into gas and electric cost. If correct, The math states it will be cheaper for fuel up. So i give you that.

But my commute would still have me going off course and charging. Hassle worth it?

why do you need to install a charging station for 50 mile range overnight when a wall outlet is 5 miles per hour? 10 hours = 50 miles. many public level 2 stations (220v, 20 miles per hour) are FREE. your workplace wall outlet is FREE. only the 440v fast charger is as expensive as gas.
