My first proposal is that once a president’s term ends, that president should be asked if he/she wants to remain as a stream moderator. If the answer is yes, that former president should enforce the agenda of the current president. If that former president rebels or becomes inactive, he/she should lose MOD powers. The current stream MODs should be checked by the stream creator halfwhitmemes in accordance with those guidelines, because some of the current MODs only seem to have MOD powers because they used to be president, and not because they are committed to moderating the stream.

My second proposal is that the voting system should be reformed. As the user Crimes_Johnson pointed out, the strawpoll website we use to elect presidents is vulnerable to hacking. I propose that we instead have all voters comment ranked choice votes, and transfer them here: https://rankedchoices.com/

Ranked choice voting is the fairest. In first past the post elections like the one that just occurred, voters may be forced to vote strategically as opposed to preferentially.

For example, let's say a voter prefers a less popular candidate named RED, but he strongly dislikes a more popular candidate named YELLOW, and has mixed feelings about another more popular candidate named BLUE. The voter strategically votes for his #2 favourite option BLUE, instead of his #1 favourite option RED. He does this because he thinks that voting for RED would divide the vote for BLUE, who is the only candidate popular enough to stop YELLOW from winning.

This is called the spoiler effect, and it explains why a two party system forms in most democracies.

The result of first past the post elections can also be unfair. For example, although anonymously.deleted received the most votes, more than 50% of everyone did not vote for her. This means that a majority of voters are not satisfied with the result. Ranked choice instant runoff voting ensures that as many voters as possible are satisfied.

The way it works is that you vote by ranking the candidates in order of preference. The #1 choice votes are all counted. If nobody receives more than 50% of #1 choice votes, the least popular candidate is eliminated, and his/her #2 votes are distributed accordingly. This process is repeated until someone receives at least 50% of the vote.

This way, the result will ensure that the winner of the election will be someone at least half of the voters are satisfied with.

Full election reform proposal:

So each stream has a certain number of seats, depending on the number of followers it has. And then the streams hold internal elections (which acts as a midterm between the general election) to nominate a certain number of candidates, depending on the number of seats in that stream (and candidates can only run in one stream). The users that are nominated will be the Members of Parliament, and be granted MOD powers in the stream they ran in.

And then two big elections can be held every four months in the IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS stream to elect the President, who will have MOD powers in all streams that are taking part, and the Head of Parliament, who will only have MOD powers in the IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS stream, but has control over parliament. Both the President and Head of Parliament must have running mates in the election, who will become Vice President and Deputy Head of Parliament, respectively. They both receive MOD powers in the IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS stream, are Members of Parliament, and are in the line of succession for the presidency. The Vice President is 2nd, the Head of Parliament is 3rd, and the Deputy Head of Parliament is 4th.

If we implement this system, then the first midterm election will be at the end of December, and the next general election will be at the end of February 2021, and then the second midterm election will be at the end of April 2021. It makes sense to extend the terms from two months to four months, since there will be midterms in between. Otherwise it will be too chaotic. For both the midterms and the general election, all voters must comment ranked choice votes in the comment section of a particular meme, and then those votes will be transferred here: https://rankedchoices.com/

The instant runoff process will be made public, so it can be proven that no fraud took place.
