Authoritarianism and nazism are not socialism.

Democratic socialism is a fantastic combo of government and economic policy. Look at the Nordic states, they are thriving with democratic socialism. Market capitalism doesn't exclude a social safety net and basic human care.

Social security isn't a totalitarian policy, giving food assistance isn't authoritarian, providing shelter to the homeless isn't authoritarian.

Automation is removing the need for a lot of human physical labor, and now the need for mental labor too, automation is replacing our human labor. We need to care for people without attaching care to a job that won't exist in 10 years.
