Marginal Mennonites contend that converting non-Christians was not part of
the Anabaptist program. When the Anabaptists invited people to join their
movement, they were speaking Catholic to Catholic. They were trying to
radicalize fellow Christians via intra-faith persuasion, not to convert
Jews or Muslims or other non-Christians via religious proselytizing. Most Anabaptists were advocates of religious liberty -- for everyone.
They sought religious freedoms for themselves, and believed
non-Christians should enjoy those freedoms as well. ~From the Declaration of Mennonites for the Preservation of Religious Diversity
