I closed mine and for 2 years I couldn't unsubscribe and get them to stop sending me emails about reactivating =(

I had similar issue back in 2009. At that time even if you had deleted the account If you wen't back to any log-in page and it detected the old cookie it continued to hold your info for you to restart where you left it. I'm sure they still collected and retain any info from that time as of today.
People should search for the current procedure online as to how to ensure your account is being deleted from your access as they probably have altered their methods of retention of your data.
