We shouldn't defund the police, but some funding does need to go to training them to be a little less trigger-happy.

Folks misunderstand the 'defund' movement - its about helping to focus police on law enforcement, and hire social workers to do 'health checks' and other non-police emergencies. We have cops doing health checks on mentally ill people, and because they have little training on how to deal with non violent offenders, their only tool is a gun or other weapons that are totally inappropriate for non violent interactions with the public.
