That not a constitutional provision, but on interpretation of the establishment/free exercise clause.

Also separation of church and state is a constitutional provision see first amendment "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" How much clearer does it need to be spelled out

Sorry for the grammar error, it happen most often when I rewrite something.

Again incorrect, "separation of church and state" is an "interpretation of the establishment/free exercise clause", not an actual constitutional provision.

The separation interpretation has actually been used to justify stopping people from freely exercising their religion. That's why it is important not to confuse the text itself with an interpretation of the text.

I did incorrectly use the phrase sort of. I mean congressmen and women taking ideas directly from the bible torah or quran is just an extra step in church influencing govt decisions

Actually that falls under free exercise, so thanks for stepping on that landmine.

You would be surprised how may basic ideas of rights we have came from religious sources. Right to trial, innocent until proved guilty and many other things have religious sources.

that's my point it is legal. Separation of church and state only applies to something very specific and religion is imposed on citizens constantly by the government. True separation of government and religious ideologies will never be a reality
