To answer your question, it's because they're told it was. Partly because they get to play the race card and partly because they're too racist to see past skin color. If a disease originated in a Northern European country such as Ireland they mention race. They'd call that country evil instead. But they'd still find a way to blame Trump.

There is no offense meant by it...it's just a term invented that cleverly references both the disease and its origin point. My asian aunts call it that. They emigrated here. If they say it's not racist and that most asians wouldn't consider it racist, then it isn't racist.
