1. People hate things they perceive as "different", furries are different

2. The portrayal of furries as degenerative in popular media (specific example, Fur and Loathing CSI episode)

3. Misconception that furries are "into beastiality"

4. Furries are a relatively new Fandom historically speaking, and have yet to gain widespread acceptance. This happens with a lot of nerd culture (specific example, dungeons and dragons was called satanic in the 80s, and players were accused of being serial killer psychos... When d&d is just a nerd hobby)
