I grew up with weapons , each are specific to theIr calibers.
Large game, small game, varmint, and birds.
Assault weapons are specific also. They kill people.
Carrying an assault weapon to the polls serves no purpose other than to intimidate the possibility of killing people.

Eventually, each side brings weapons, stare each other down.
Real testosterone fueled bullshit
Until someone fires his weapon. Then the purpose of the assault weapon comes full circle.
Every law enforcement and citizen knows this.
I suppose it needs to happen before everyone becomes outraged enough for it to be outlawed
