The boom china went through was an absolute crisis. The government stepped in and forced women to only have 1 child. Now they can have 2. If a family had more than one child at the time, they were fined harshly. Now China has a shortage of women because baby boys at the time were seen to be more valuable than girls. I hope america never sees the day where women are forced in to sterilization, or forced to only have x amount of children. But the problem does lie in the fact that a man and a woman can make lots of offspring. And if everyone does the same thing then the population boom affects the supply and demand chain regarding resources. I don't think any country should base their economy on how many people they have, and I don't think it's right to rely on people's offspring to determine the economic state of a country. History paves the road to the future, and we don't want to repeat bad history. So its important to allow women access to birth control, and reproductive rights at their own will so the government doesn't have to step in and enforce it upon them.
