We pictured independence, liberty and freedom for all, a nation of hopes and dreams being achieved. Look around-
That's not where we are. We can't control civic, of course. But the racism? The lack of faith in others? The plummeting debt? We aren't what we should be. But that doesn't mean we can't start anew, baring these Hardships with our fellow people. We aren't just a nation, we're America, damn it!

This is why I don't understand why our views are so different, you sound like a red-blooded American there (except for the part about racism but that's just cause we kinda think that ended like decades ago not that it wasn't a problem at some point. anyway)
But yeah, I agree about the lack of faith in others (leads me to believe in smaller government), the plummeting debt (leads me to believe we need to cut spending and lower taxes to and extent [economics are complicated] BUT I didn't think to include that, so maybe I'll add it to the paper).
