Doing what wrong? Can you clarify, please?

It is so sad that you have to ask, I'm not sure if you are uninformed, obtuse, or an extremist.

Left to right then:

McConnell:
Orchestrated, in concert with Trump and Paul Ryan, the longest gocernment shutdown in United States history.

Denied a sitting president consideration of their supreme court nominee, then when presented with the same situation years later, hypocritically attempts to rush a supreme court nominee to approval.

And here are some quotes.

In 2016, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said: "One of my proudest moments was when I told Obama, 'You will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy,'" and in 2017, he said, "Apparently there's yet a new standard now, which is not to confirm a Supreme Court nominee at all. I think that's something the American people simply will not tolerate."

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president"

"If I'm still the majority leader of the Senate after next year, none of those things are going to pass the Senate, they won't even be voted on. So think of me as the Grim Reaper."

In short, McConnell is purposely disrupting government functions.

Trump:

Throws Covid parties (yes super spreader events are covid parties)

Undermines rule of law consistently, denigrating his own cabinet appointees. As well as commuting the sentence of Roger Stone, convicted of witness tampering and obstruction for his role on Trump campaign.

Crashed the economy, failed to respond to covid, continues to downplay covid.

Encourages white supremacists when pictured on T.V. and only denounces white supremacy when not pictured. (Yes he only denounces on call ins, not when on camera)

I could go on, but I shouldn't have too.

Lindsey Graham:
I only need a quote here.

"I want you to use my words against me. If there's a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said let's let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination."

And finally, all three are sh i tt ing on RGB, who made a final request from her death bed. RGB last words:

"My Most Fervent Wish Is That I Not Be Replaced Until a New President Is Installed"

Denying a national treasure her dying wish is just rotten.

I'm going to give you the win here I wouldn't say Trump is corrupt and what McConnell did I don't think was right, but it was constitutional so what can you do. I look forward to our next debate though I wouldn't really consider this one a debate.

I don’t debate, I have civil discourse.

We aren't doing this for an audience, this is for ourselves.

And thanks, you showed me evidence I hadn't seen before. Trump has denounced white supremacy more often than I had originally claimed, and when on a script will denounce white supremacy.

If our beliefs were a sliding 1-5 scale, with me at 1 and you at 5, I'd say we both won, because we are both closer to 3 now.

At least I feel like I went from a 1 on the scale, to a 2, I understand where you are coming from better.

You don't seem like an extremist to me anymore, heck you were calmer than me for a lot of this conversation.

In short, good on you and yours, best wishes, and I hope you find the sun on your face and the wind at your back.

I mean personally, I don't find RGB a national treasure. The seat she held was not hers it's the American peoples therefor when she died the set needs to be filled. (she can not deny the president the power to appoint a justice when the seat was never hers) I know we are in an election but the standing president has the right to appoint a supreme justice. However, the president has to control the Senate as well, which in the case of Obama the senate was not controlled. I believe this has happened a lot each time supreme justices have be appointed when both the Senate and the president are of the same party.

Not true.

Reagan nominated a justice at 13 months, and the democrats approved, because it was the right thing to do.

The precedent was broken by McConnell, when Obama nominated at 11 months, and now they don't want to use the precedent they themselves set. That is literally hypocrisy. Lindsey Graham called his future self out.

You are making excuses, poor excuses.

It is my opinion, based on your response, that you were being obtuse, and are in fact an extremist.

I would imagine it took Reagan 13 months because he had to find a middle ground with the Democrats which aren't as extreme as they are today.

Look at you purposely misunderstanding again...

Reagan nominated at 13 months, and it approved by democrats

Obama nominated at 11 months, and it was denied by Republicans

Trump nominated at 2 months, and McConnell is trying to approve it

Are you such an extremist, that you can't understand this concept?

Reagan actually tried to appoint a more conservative judge but he was turned down by the Democrat party (who controlled the senate) so he suggested someone in the middle of the road. Obama however never suggested someone other than his original pick and didn't try to find someone who would be more appealing to the other party.

Still being obtuse huh?

Bork got a hearing, Garland didn't.

Can't be rejected if you don't get a hearing, can't pick a replacement if your nominee isn't rejected.

This isn't high level math or physics, it is straight forward, which makes your weaseling even worse.

Bork got a hearing, and Kennedy got approved

Garland never got a hearing, no one would have gotten a hearing, Garland wasn't rejected, Garland was ignored.

The Republican party ignored a sitting president's supreme court nominee.

I'm not for every Republican there are diffidently some wolves in sheep's clothing. You can't just assume I'm for everyone, I know there are corrupt people that should have been appointed in the first place. But a lot of times you have to chose the lesser of 2 evils.
[deleted]
2 ups, 4y
I don't have to assume, you are defending the actions of these 3 in particular.

The Senate refusing a hearing for a Supreme Court nominee, is dereliction of duty, or it is how it is supposed to be.

It can't be both, and the Republicans want it both ways, as proven by their actions.

Trump has denounced white supremacists on air the media cuts it out. It's not Trump's fault COVID came could it have gone better maybe is he not taking it seriously yes. But most politicians aren't they're just faking it in front of the camera, for example, Nancy Pelosi.

"Stand back and stand by" is an endorsement, not a disemboweling.

That is why the Proud Boys responded "standing by sir"

And put the new motto on their social media feeds.

Prove your claim, link a video.

You can't because Trump doesn't condemn white supremacy on camera, only via phone.

Proud boys aren't a white supremacist group one of the founders is Cuban. They're more of a drinking club/anti-Antifa group. Which I would find extreme but not racist.

Not according to the SPLC and the FBI

They say the Proud Boys are white nationalists. You are wrong and here is the evidence.

There's a whole near the bottom of him saying he's disemboweled, white supremacist.

I would have preferred a different source I'm kind of in a time crunch.

This literally proves my point.

He is willing to distance himself from a single white supremacist leader.

Off camera, he actually says "I disavow"

On camera, he says he is "willing to disavow"

Which is like saying "I am willing to apologize, yes."

That isn't apologizing, that is being willing to apologize, then you actually have to say "I apologize".

You still haven't found a video clip of Trump saying he denounce white supremacy, while he is on camera. I admit he will say it when he is off camera.

Where in the debate, show me.

I am saying he never denounces white supremacists in a debate. It hasn't happened, you are making it up.

Prove me wrong. Show me, do it.

Best you can do, is gonne be Trump saying he 'is willing to denounce" but you will not find him actually denouncing.

Trumo does not denounce white supremacists in the Wallace debate.

I'm willing to change my mind if you can find otherwise.

As I noted 15 & 16 in your original link video where real close if not spot on denouncement if white supremacy. I wish I had more context for each, to better place the scene. Was it a script he was reading from, or was it him speaking from the heart kind of thing.

Either way, you are so close to changing my mind on this one.

Trump has said he is willing, and I believe when he is reading from a script he can denounce white supremacy.

I'm really interested in the debate moment you are citing though. Is it him saying he is willing, or is it him actually denouncing?

Please find and share this video, because I will totally upvote you all over this comment section if you find this evidence I need.

Disagree or not, you will get all the upvotes.
