Foxes also didn't have many functions but people voted for it too

at least they had SOME funtion, such as being able to pick up items and kill stuff and loot baries.
the glow squid is literally a riskin and glows. thats it.

well for all we know it might be a neutral mob, like the enderman it will attack if provoked and like how it was seen in the animation it might be able to drag players close to it by "hypnotizing them" with its glow

well it's still a possibility we should keep an eye out for, the people behind Minecraft have made thing people voted on and added to it after the vote before so its fully possible

plus they could just mean the skin looks cool
