Polyamorous just means capable of loving more than one person. It doesn't mean you have to have multiple relationships at the same time, it doesn't mean you love everyone equally, it doesn't mean "it's not cheating because I'm poly", it doesn't mean you have threesomes all the time. (I know you didn't state all of them but those are the most common misconceptions and my brain just goes into counting-them-all-down mode when I hear or see one of them.)

What you described is certainly the ideal polyamorous relationship where everybody involved loves each other equally and they're all one big happy family. But that's not always the case and not even the necessary minimum to make it work. Being polyamorous is an individual thing. For such an equal relationship between three people all three have to be polyamorous AND find each other. That's why it's so incredibly rare. But that's not the only way to be polyamorous and still have a fulfilling life. 😉
