Your not a villain. The problem is, they keep saying no because they don't want you to. redraw their character. I'm not saying your rude or anything, but just when someone says no to your offer you shouldn't keep trying to get them to say yes. Their decision is no. Obviously they are not going to change their mind. They gave you a reason whether it is valid or not.

Someone saying "no" is not someone being toxic. They have a problem, which in this case is that they don't want your offer, but you keep coming back, which is making them angry.
