And she was stuck in the "secret annexe" for 2 years until their hiding spot was discovered by a gestapo who betrayed them. Her father is the only survivor, in which he found her diary. Today I found out a 'jiffy' is used as an actual unit of time. The word 'jiffy' has been around since at least the late 18th century. What it derived from is unknown, but it first popped up as a “thieves slang for 'lightning'”.May 3, 2012. This is something that popped up when I Googled jiffy second.
