Ok so this world is a place to test our worthiness so God put the tree there purposely so Adam and eve could choose to obey or disobey his is how I interpreted the passage I don't understand God sometimes but he's God he knows more than you or I will ever know so don't question him

God was establishing boundaries and his right to set those boundaries. Adam & Eve were given free will, so they could choose serve God, love him and worship him or not. They weren't serving him out of instinct or mechanically, much like the option we have NOW.
