It's the freedom to live your life however you please without religion or state jumping in between you and your desires. It is usually depicted as the usual "punk" lifestyle.

That is a mixture of good and bad.

What you describe is near Classic Liberalism, I live my life without infringing on your rights and you do the same.

Actually that would be the desire of every Conservative I know.

That is Classic Liberalism. That is what the Founders envisioned for all men.

The problem is, around 1900, the American Communists were known Progressives. That word was stigmatized by their beliefs. So they began calling themselves Liberals and infiltrated the Democrat Party.

People that believed in Classic Liberalism, began calling themselves Conservative.

Let me make this clear.

Conservatism is the red box. They oppose the punk lifestyle in favour of "traditional values".
Conservatism opposes the notion of "live and let live". They believe that things in that umbrella, like things that oppose Judeo-Christian values and old-fashioned traditions, like gay marriage, should be banned. They believe in free markets.

The yellow box is not totally like "live and let live". They believe in freedom and downsized government, but allow for businesses to get very powerful. They strongly support a laissez-faire economy.

The green box, or progressivism, believes in personal freedom and stresses it a lot. They believe in "live and let live" to the fullest. They are socially liberal, meaning that social liberty is not bad to them. Progressivism is strongly against the moral push of the red box.

The blue box is statist and communist.
