Ignoring coal while mining isn’t a sign of being really rich. Coal is not as important once you have a good bit of it, and it’s really common at that. A full netherite beacon is a sign of extreme wealth.

Do you even know how hard it is to get even a single netherite ingot, let alone a block of it? Netherite is hard to get all, and even if you do get it, it’s useless without gold. If you can get a full beacon of it, that means you also have a whole lot of gold, which is also somewhat hard to come across. Plus, a beacon is also difficult to acquire, as it requires a nether star from the wither boss. Ignoring coal is not to be compared to having a netherite beacon. Even if you’re still poor, you will often ignore it because it’s not very useful, aside from making torches and using as fuel. A netherite beacon is indeed a show of wealth, and it’s not addiction that you need for it, it’s commitment.

After you just explained how hard it is to get a single netherite block, it just supports the fact the getting a full netherite beacon shows your over addiction to the game.

Whether it’s addiction or commitment, a netherite beacon is a sign of wealth. You don’t need to be wealthy to ignore coal.
