Yes, this! A corona, as well as being the name of a potentially lethal virus, can also mean the gassy outer layer of a star, a crown-like thing or a halo of light. Calling the virus that, while scientifically correct because of the family of viruses it belongs to, poisons the other definitions and makes them less palatable. Whereas covid will only ever mean the virus. It's like when I feel sorry for folks born under the sign of the crab. I get that some people won't give a crap but I do.
