Yeah if you want shinies, go talk to Hotel Nintendo Man and he'll give you a permanent 6X shiny hunting boost rate. There are also plenty of in-game exploits, like using a pokémon with a certain ability. For me I lucked out at the start of my Pokemon sword playthrough and caught a shiny Wimpod which I brought with me all the way to the endgame. Sucks that I can't trade it because Nintendo decided paying for online was a good idea
