I own a takeaway and my biggest competitor (national online food app) opened its store(s) down the road from me.
I'm hit with every related tax and regulation in the book but their company was able to get itself reclassified as 'light industrial'.
They received a tax subsidy for opening their company and health and hygiene has no authority to inspect the premises, and so no new or future regulation applies, where as the appropriate changes can cost me upto several thousand
(This year it was a fire wall, 2 fire doors and a smoke alarm.... and I kid you not, The area in question is literally 1x3 metres in size..)
A multi million pound company has a lower tax bracket and regulatory standard than I do... Thanks government..
