Basically people just want random Internet points to feel happy and a upvote is kind of like a "I like this" reaction by someone else. It's kind of dumb but around 1/7 of all people on the internet do it. :(

What good are the points?

they dont do anything but they make some people feel powerful because a bunch of strangers liked their post

tbh after some time on the internet you realize upvotes dont really matter, and this comes from someone who made a meme with 55,000 views on a meme, so yeah, internet points dont really matter

If anything, a meme lord doesn't post memes for money or fame, a meme lord posts original content to make people happy
