One of the cats we had when we were kids did this, too, but one time he got closed in a drawer and was in there nearly all day....was meowing his head off when I came home from school and it took like 30 minutes to find him...I was standing right in front of the dresser he was in, but then I was convincing myself that the meowing was coming from another room. The cat was fine, but he looked pissed off when he finally was let out.
