Yeah, "f(x)" is the same thing as "y=" we just stop using "y=" because f(x) is a much better representation. Because sometimes we will have to deal with more than one function, so we give names such as, f(x), g(x), h(x), etc. You probably already know this. Later on you will learn to do all kinds of things with functions, such as transformations, compositions, and many other things...

What's your favorite math subject? My favorite ones are Polynomials and Trigonometric functions...

Honestly, geometry was my favorite, or more specifically trigonometry.. it was always the thing that made the most sense to me. And the way that all the rules for triangles were always so constant was sort of reassuring to me lol

Proving Trigonometric Identities was one of my favorite parts of trigonometry.
It was challenging, but it was just like a puzzle.
You had to hack away at the problem until the solution became apparent.
Sometimes it was frustrating; however, you can't give up, you have to keep trying and in the end both sides were the same, and you have finished proving it.

Yeah, a lot of people don't care about or like math. But math is an art. Something else that's cool is the binomial theorem. Some people freaked out when they saw it. It's so useful, I use it all of the time to expand binomial expressions.

Yeah, I'm not super crazy about algebra; geometry was the thing that made me appreciate (some) math. I'm warming up to it which is the important thing lol

y is good for graphing because it can help you with coordinates like there is no f(x) axis there is a y axis. it’s also good for solving for x
f(x) is good for solving for y because with functions for me you are given the x and have to solve for y

Calculus 3 got really interesting because it took algebra and Calculus 1 and 2 into 3-dimensional functions.
