There are so many reasons why Super was one of the greats. The story, the battles (You may not agree with this one), the characters, Dimentio is a really good villain. This game deserves a sequel

If super paper mario got a sequel with the same kind of story and characters, but with the mechanics of the first 2 games, it would be better than thousand year door. Not that there's anything wrong with the super paper mario gameplay, I think platforming fits in paper mario just as much as RPG mechanics.

I wish I could mark posts as spoilers so I can explain my idea of a sequel plot without spoiling the events of super paper mario.
