I actually used to LIKE Harry Potter some months ago, but suddenly, I'm not into it anymore.

For one, J.K Rowling is a HORRIBLE writer. She made everyone gay/lesbian for the sake of popularity, and that's not the way to go. Tolkien, meanwhile, kept everyone in character, and didn't change a thing about them.
Secondly, Harry Potter has a more childish theme to it, while LOTR has a more mature and darker theme to it.

In conclusion, Lotr is better than Harry Potter. You Potterheads can attack me all you want in the replies, but you can't change my mind

Well, yes, but LotR and Narnia are both better written, have better overall plots, and don't glorify darkness. They edify.

oh, for goodness sake, you're judging someone for what book they like. as a nerd i can understand liking some kind enough to say "blasphemy" when someone says they dislike it, but don't try to make them not like it anymore. how about if i started saying you shouldn't like LOTR?

There is another reason I dislike HP, although you probably won't like it: Hairy Potter is full of moral crud. LOTR is filled with Biblical principles and is a thoroughly Catholic work. HP was written by someone with almost no moral absolutes, probably for the sake of being PC. Tolkien was a devout Catholic who didn't care at all about what others thought.

I could go on, but you get my point.
