Ok.. I'm sure O'Brien, a Trump appointee and the 4th NSA of this administration (why is that?), is telling the absolute truth and not towing the line. There are multiple reports and it fits the MO of Trump not reading much when it comes to briefings. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

The NDAA veto threat is from his own twitter: “I will Veto the Defense Authorization Bill if the Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren (of all people!) Amendment, which will lead to the renaming (plus other bad things!) of Fort Bragg, Fort Robert E. Lee, and many other Military Bases from which we won Two World Wars, is in the Bill!”

Lastly, would you kindly list what reputable news outlets I should be reading? I always forget to ask.

From the top, Yes apparently he doesn't like to read everything but O'brien is on record here stating what he does so whether you accept or not it is the present state of things and as you say, we will see.

Do you wonder who leaked the information to NYT? you don't consider this to be improper, some would say criminal given the security afforded the information. This is no less an issue than any concern over O'brien because Trump appointed him. The cost of this leaking will be long term damage because there is no reason for a future opposition party to not do the same as there are no repercussions at this stage.
And I have to laugh about the last sentence. The problem is none of them can be trusted so i can suggest none. You sound or seem to be able to discern something from the news provided and this is probably the best way to get a feel for realities. They all omit or add information which supports their desired emotional outcome and all use colorful or emotive words which alter meanings to the individual. The publishing of unsubstantiated or flat out incorrect information from anonymous sources is usualy a sign they are making things up. So yeah, caveat emptor.
