Well if you allow for starting midway through a numerical decade, then many of us might say the greatest decade began on April 30 1945 when Adolf Hitler killed himself. I mean: Let’s be honest here, few people in the entire world didn’t secretly rejoice at that hearing that news at the time; and even now you’d be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t glad he’s dead.
