Weapons: He's training to use a yari under a very skilled and famous user of it. But he hasn't mastered it yet and he's usually on cleaning duty, so he's usually seen fighting the air with a broom.
Appearance: Short dark hair and dark eyes, wears the standard page uniform (Ha I have no idea what they wear-)
Personality: An honest and hard-working page, though he's also very friendly. His determination and will is unshaken. Sadly, he's not the brightest and is terribly unlucky.

I was actually planning to make it so that he somehow managed to enter despite being terrible because of some weird luck that caused a mistake in management which allowed him to join

There was a boy about 20 years old with brown hair and dark eyes. (It's Souma) He seemed to be haggling with a street artist with blue hair with a painting. (The artist is Ibuki. He's not really that important to the story, but he has some lore value)

Meanwhile, Kanata was running errands for his sensei like he always does. He groaned, "I wish I could be part of the shinsengumi... If I did, I wouldn't be doing this! ...Probably."

The street artist looked over at Kanata. "Oh, the Shinsengumi? I used to be a page there once!" he laughed. The brown haired boy seemed less amused. "The shinsengumi are nothing but a group of brainless street thugs, you'd be better off not affiliated with them!"

Kanata yelled at the brown haired boy, "How dare you speak of them like that! Sensei said that if I manage to join them, I'll be able to be as respectable of a person as he is! And sensei never lies!" He then turned to the street artist and made a complete 180. His gaze shined with wonder, "Really?! Tell me all about it please!"
