It might be interesting to write a random first paragraph for ten or twelve potential stories. Then take a day and see which one gets you thinking.

You might throw the paragraph away later, but if it gives you an idea for a story, it could still be the most important paragraph your Readers will never see ( :

The joke was, all he said was once upon a time and then he got writer's block. That doesn't usually happen till at least forty or fifty pages in. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've never had it myself, so I imagined it could happen anytime life was just a little too good.

Oh, I've definitely had it. One time I actually had to reconfigure half of a novel I was working on just because when I finally came out of the so-called "writer's block", what I ultimately decided on clashed with what I had already written. That wasn't fun!

I've done month's worth of chemistry that I ultimately replaced with shorter and higher-yielding reaction sequences. I regret the initial clunkery but I smile now at the satisfying resolution ( :
