Really? A book series which portrays sorcery (which is forbidden in God's Word) in a good light? You, a Christian, call that GOOD? Not to mention that the storywriting is crap, and what isn't is stolen from LOTR and Chronicles of Narnia... Look, I still recognize that you are a fellow believer, but please think about what you are saying!

it's all fake. that's how i see it. which i understand the way you think. and i agree that jk rowling could have made the books better (as in a way of cutting parts out etc) and i know not to go around and do stuff like that. i have never read any of the other stuff any way. but yet again it's all fake.

What's all fake? The Bible explicitly states that sorcery is detestable in His sight, and that those who practice it have no share in Heaven. Do you really want to be reading a book series that promotes it?! Sorry if I misunderstood, but if you know not to do it, then why enjoy books that are all about it?

But that's exactly where the danger lies. Because it's fictional, it makes you let your guard down. Even if you consciously reject what it's saying, it can still worm it's way into your mind, and affect your thinking. And it's a slippery slope from there. The more you read Hairy Potter, the more it numbs you to the revolting evil that it's protagonists practice, until it gets to the point where it's no great mental jump to think, "This isn't bad. This is just some people having innocent fun, and occasionally using supernatural power to fight against the antagonist." Now, your situation might not get so bad as that, but nonetheless, you still don't need to be filling your mind with that.

But hey, don't do something just because some guy on the internet told you to. Take it to God's Word, and see what He has to say there. But no matter what your decision is from there, I still wish you a great day!

I fell down that same path. But then I discovered LOTR and I never looked back. (with the help of Jesus who saved me) :)
