What if I’m not on when the roll assigning starts?

If I miss it, I want to either be Jango Fett (I almost typed Jango Feet), Luke Skywalker, or Kyle Ren. If other people pick these characters, I might be jar jar binks. Also, how will this work if someone, let’s say, chooses Leia and someone else chooses Han. How will they talk to each other? Like normal? Like a couple?
