Good point. But then again, most people wouldn't really notice that element. Plus, the government and the corporations wouldn't stand for it. Progress is all they care about. "Nevermind the destruction of that which is beautiful, and the desolation of that which is sacred," they say. "Take no heed of the starving masses, or the homeless wretches, or those who suffer so that the wheels of progress may be kept turning. Pay no attention to the lives lost, or the beauty defiled, or the peacefulness driven out by noise and clamor," they insist. And it seems, for the most part, that we've listened to them. But this is, as you have already said, exactly what Tolkien was against. Shall we who now follow in his footsteps fail to take up this legacy? Or shall we take up this cross, and fight to preserve beauty, holiness, and life? That's what Christ fought for. He fought to bring Eternal life. He fought to sanctify us, to make us holy. He fought to preserve the beautiful creation that He had fashioned to His design. Shall we now carry on this battle, now that we have been given the Spirit of God to strengthen us?
Sorry if I got a little carried away there. But either way, you're right. Thanks for the input.
