To stay out of trouble

Older people tell lies too. It's because they think that lying will help them stay out of trouble and because they think they can fool you into believing the lie. Look at politicians. I won't bring any specifics here but I'm sure you get my point.

I'm sure most of us have told a lie at some point or another. Some just tell more obvious lies than others.
