I dunno, but Silver, I guess. I do happen to be very biased, so I would also have to say Gold. I did like Sapphire and Ruby as well, so I guess I would chose those four.

I mean, mewtwo is a self proclaimed trainer so I guess him. I also like Marnie from sword and shield.

I mean, that's a tough choice. In the games for male and female I'd say Red and Leaf, they make a good duo as protags for Fire Red and Leaf Green, the anime...IDK, I don't really like it that much, newer games, I say Marnie, the manga, I say Gold or well, Yellow.
