hold up...so many states have already amassed incredible debt ...new york state...which has one of the highest taxs rates in the country has more than 16 billion dollar deficit prior to coronavirus...the democratic giveaways to unions for votes has caught up to them and only recently has the city and state scaled back on these benfits not nearly enough although. it seems when it come to fiscal respinsibilty the states dont have control. most of these state have also taken on the burden of a sanctuary city which some say noble is a burden on state economy.
M.T.A. is a perfect example in NYS. 2 years ago the workers unions demanded raises, the governor gave raises, governor raises the fares, the mayor no longer enforces fare beating. now wants to let the poor pay a lower fare. it will just raise the fare again. and this is already on top of running on a deficit. why not just make it a pay what you can option.
the federal goverment has 49 other states that they worry about. Coronavirus didnt put new york at a loss it was already at a loss. that is wjy new york loses 100,000 people a year
