My one question is how dense must the water in that soda be for it to separate from sea water

This is logical. A boat would float underwater so it's easy to pull up. A metal bar like that with soda bottles on the other hand would be hard to pull up because of the metal bar. Metal does it float like that. Also this is a miniature but we are talking about for fish.
