When I hear "both at fault", I know I encountered a lazy ass that knows nothing about issues.
So they take the "pox on both their houses" position because in their tiny mind, it elevates them above the fray and they never have to learn anything about what's going on, let alone actually pick a side.

They are firmly planted between the right and left cheek of politics, if you take my meaning.
