Something is going to kill you, either M&Ms, or Skittles that have an even higher death rate, or Tootsie Rolls that run in your family, or the Milk Duds because you smoke, drink and never exercise.
Not to mention the co-morbidity and the extremely high likelihood that COVID deaths are being over reported for the money each case brings, so M&M deaths are exaggerated. It's not 4 M&Ms, it's maybe 1, if you're old, fat, heart diseased or all of the above.

Hypothetical: let’s say my wife has endometrial cancer, or maybe recently recovered. Her compromised immune system would make her a) extremely susceptible to the virus and b) if she were to contract it, it’s a 50/50 chance it would kill her.

If you’re saying YOU are willing to accept that risk on behalf of my wife or my mother or any one of my family and friends? If the answer is yes, I’ll repeat myself: you can f**k right the f**k off.

Have you been in a COVID-19 ward? Have you seen what this virus does? Do you know that, more often than not, the assault on your respiratory system slowly drowns you over the course of not minutes, not hours, but weeks? That’s if your heart doesn’t give out first. If you’re fortunate enough to survive it, your kidneys and liver could be shot to hell. Your lungs may be permanently scarred.

The virus is real, I never said otherwise. But so is the media hyperbole. It's real and damaging.
I'm not looking to get anywhere near someone with a compromised immune system, whether I am infected, not infected, symptomatic or not. But that's your risk, not mine. It's your immune system, not mine. If you are at risk, you take extra measures. Your wife stays home, maybe you do, too. But I shouldn't have to. You can't idiot proof the world and you can't virus proof it, either.

Don't put the whole country under house arrest, cripple the economy or restrain people any more than you have to. This one size fits all "solution" is not going to work, whether it's immune strong vs immune compromised or New York City vs Wyoming. We can all take some measures to knock the spread of the virus down, wash hands, spread out in public, etc. That will help, small things have a cumulative effect.
But the media hyperbole, politically motivated heavy handed restrictions, that has to go.

The question was rhetorical: I have two very close friends who work in separate hospitals as a nurse and doctor, respectively, and my son’s best friend is a county police medic. I’ll take their words on “media hyperbole” before I some macho dickhead on the internet’s bloviations. (By the way, each one has said the media is underselling this...but I’m sure they’re just libtards, too)

If you’re somewhere in Bumf**k, USA where the virus hasn’t touched, consider yourself lucky and pray it doesn’t land close to home. But the only way that happens is with the continued sacrifices of the people in the thick of it.

I fail to see what that has to do with the price of tea in China. This shit is real. People are dying and it’s only through these measures, in the absence of a vaccine (hydrochloroquine is clearly NOT the answer) and dipshit conspiracy theories accomplish nothing.
