the books were better, but the movies were still awesome

Great movie, just extremely long.

Which makes them perfect movies for when you're stuck at home for weeks with nothing to do.

We were reading the book for school online, so I decided to watch the movie because all 3 of them are supposed to be some of the best movies ever. I just couldn't watch the 2nd one the day after, too long. Might tonight. I was surprised to hear the word "Hobbit" because I thought they were 2 entirely different series by different creators.

I might be a biased toward the movies since I was raised on them, but LotR is my personal favorite trilogy. I would say the book is even better. There are definitely chapters in there though where the story lags a bit. The Ring Goes South and The Passage of the Marshes would be great examples.
