There is a lot to consider, like how supportive they are, how old you are, how aware they are about being transgender, etc. 😕

You know your family, so I think you can be the judge of if you need a back up plan. My parents didn't throw me out, but I did still contact my friend just in case. It would break my heart if your family didn't accept you, though 💔

Here is a story that I think will help a little

My cousin recently came out as a MtF. She texted me a couple days before she told the family ( We are crazy close like people thought we were siblings and since we look kinda different, dating.) I was stunned but but when I didn't answer right away she started crying and so i told her I love her No mater what and if the rest of the family doesn't approve, she and I would cut contact and be happy ( My mom side which she is from are jerks so I would have no issues with cutting them off, once they told me I should kill myself because of my social anxiety that made it difficult for me to talk in public or around strangers) We agreed we would do it at my Great Aunt's birthday and the day came up so there we were and I stood up and said " I love you great Auntie and my cousin, Lauren would like say something" everyone was really confused cause up til then the only Lauren in our family was dead. Lauren stood up and said with pride " Hello, I am Lauren." and everyone was like "what?" but then her Dad stood up ( He was a big guy and I panicked) He walked up to her and hugged her and he said the most beautiful words I ever heard "It will be a long time before you look how you want to but you will always be beautiful to me." and slowly everyone hugged her even Great Auntie.
