Meh, the first book really explains what the hunger-games are (mostly because the main character volunteers herself as tribute, this happens early in the book). You don’t have to read the books, but I don’t want to really spoil them either... So I’m just gonna tell you what the hunger-games is. There are 12 districts, each one has a different job (the main character comes from district 12, one of the worst districts to come from because they are all miners). Because the districts decided to rebel against the government (and lost), the government decided to have what is called the Hunger-games each year... The Hunger-games is a 24 person battle royale with 2 tributes selected from each district, one is a male, the other is a female. These tributes have to fight each other to the death, and the games don’t stop until there is one tribute left. Once that tribute has won, the don’t have to be involved with any other Hunger-games again (in book to the government decides to go back on this and pick tributes from the victors). I forgot to mention, the tributes ages can range from 12 to 17 years old, once your older than 17 your safe (not really because then you have to work for the government and you aren’t paid that much depending on which district your from)
