It makes no sense to me, either. The "runs" are not one of the symptoms. The one somewhat plausible explanation I have seen was on this very site. People (according to that user) are afraid of being quarantined in and confined to their homes and want to be sure they have enough TP. This still doesn't explain every blasted shelf stripped bare of TP everywhere you look.

Well maybe it's because the human race is illogical and instead of stocking up on practical things like food, they stock up on impractical things like toilet paper. I don't get why people think that they spend so much time on the toilet, because they don't.
