You are correct and yes it will... alot of people don't think or know about that...our dollar isn't based on how many are out there(infact it hasn't really been based on anything tangible for decades) in fact every dollar printed devalues every already existing dollar in circulation leading to inflation however not doing anything could lead to mass inflation aswell.
Mass printing of New currency is a short term solution to any given problem with long term consequences hoping to fending off said problem ...under the current problem not sure what else they could have done as it seems every time our government does this we have some sort of catastrophe to financially solve or face a system wide economic crash.
I do know a true economic crash could usher us into the next 3rd world economy.
