It's a reference to Persona 3, a game from a series I really love! I've only played Persona 5, though I plan to play all the others!
In Persona, they fight demons by summoning their Personas. Every game has their own theme and way to summon personas. In Persona 3, the main theme is accepting death and mortality, and the way to summon their Persona is by shooting themselves with a device called an "Evoker", that resembles a gun, therefore calling upon your Persona resembles the act of suicide.

No... Sadly, society just assumes you're what they call "normal" when you're not out of the closet...

I would not know since I am not currently inside a closet and am currently outside that container of clothing while procrastinating on some homework that is due in a few hours.
