Let's put it this way:
Should the 1940 census have been put off until after World War 2? Even if the US had stayed out of it, mass refugees into the US would definitely change our demographics. Should the 1860 census have waited until after the Civil War? What about the 1810 census? What about 1960 for the Vietnam War and the mere possibility that the Soviets would drop a bomb?
The answer is no. Not haha, not wow what a clever idea, just no. We've been in this situation before and this isn't the first time we've asked ourselves this question and come to the same answer, which is: just get it done.
