Wouldn't surprise me if that's the case ... nothing surprises me anymore.
People are nuts.
No one, in hindsight, ever said, “I wish I had panicked a little bit more.”
Hopefully with Tom Hanks coming down with COVID-19, he will use some of his Mr. Rogers charm to calm the world and help us to see the big picture. This is a bad bug ... but it’s just a bug. It affects the elderly and those with compromised health more than it affects 99% of the general population. We need to be vigilant and smart in how we respond to it but remember that we have already lost close to 20,000 people to the flu this year ... yet ... no panic. We regularly lose -- get this -- between 12,000 and 56,000 people to the flu EVERY YEAR ... and no panic. The difference is pure fear of the unknown bug. But we will get through all this just like we got through all the other bugs that have plagued humanity.
