Duuuuuh…his feet were held to the fire by the republican congress under Newt Gingrich he opposed with everything he had the welfare reforms that made the surplus possible .. he also had the benefit of the single most revolutionary invention in the business world since oil the rollout of the internet. It would have been impossible for him not to have run a surplus. Luckily he left office just before the DOT.com bubble burst.

No. If that were even remotely true, there'd've been surplusses under Bush 1 and 2 as well.

OK, then, let's elect a Democratic president and put Gingrich back as Speaker of the House, if that's the magic formula. Why fix something that isn't broken?
It has nothing to do with Newt or who is president it has more to do with the fact everything the Federal Government touches turns to shit.....everything.....its a organization not based on competence but rather patronage. Medicare is already going broke and they want to entrust 20% of the economy to those idiots.
BERNIE AS A SOCIALIST I KNOW YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN DO SOMETHING CORRECTLY AND REDUCE COST. BUT IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF OUR NATION THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ON BUDGET, EFFCIENT OR REDUCED THE COST FOR ANYTHING. TO BELIEVE THAT THEY WILL DO SO WITH "MEDICARE FOR ALL" IS SIMPLY INSANE.
